Together, we are SCIAF, working for a just world.
SCIAF Director Alistair Dutton writes this “Thank You” note to Catholic schools in Scotland:
We’re coming towards the end of an extraordinary 50th anniversary year and I personally want to thank you all for your support. It’s been a fantastic time for SCIAF to reflect on all the work that schools have done over the past 50 years and more importantly, the millions of lives that this has helped transform in the countries where we work.
This year we have seen a massive total of £3.4m (with aid match) donated during Lent. Schools raising an enormous £550,000 of that total alone!
I cycled a thousand miles around Scotland to meet many, many supporters and volunteers in schools, parishes. We held SCIAF Masses in all of the eight dioceses, had parliamentary receptions in Westminster and Holyrood, held two lively ceilidhs, and so much more!
Throughout the year staff and pupils in schools throughout the country have welcomed me warmly and contributed so much to the atmosphere, passion and reverence of our anniversary Masses. As ever, you have displayed enormous, heart-felt solidarity with our sisters and brothers around the world in your giving, prayer and action.
Your generosity is greatly appreciated, and all education on, and greater awareness of, global issues is vital in forming the next generation that will put their faith into action. Thank you all for your help.
Alistair
