To mark Catholic Education Week 2014, Professor Tony Finn CBE will give this year’s Cardinal Winning Lecture on Saturday 1st March in the University of Glasgow’s Sir Charles Wilson Building. The event will start at 9.45 am. Professor Finn’s lecture title is: ‘Once a Catholic? The impact of changes in Catholic identity and in Catholic schools.’

As we approach the 100th anniversary of the 1918 Education (Scotland) Act, which guaranteed the status of Catholic schooling in Scotland, Tony Finn will explore the implications for schools of changing patterns of practice, belief and culture.

After a long career in schools and in the wider local and national governance of education, latterly as Chief Executive of the General Teaching Council for Scotland, Tony Finn has seen the education sector develop and change to meet new contexts and challenges. He is currently the interim Chair of the new Scottish College for Educational Leadership, an important pillar of the recent reforms to Scottish teacher education.
