On Monday 20th June 2016 Archbishop Philip Tartaglia celebrated Mass in honour of 43 teachers who have completed the first ‘Setting Out on the the Road’ course to gain an introductory qualification for teaching Religious Education in Catholic schools. Those who embarked on this journey in June 2015 have completed a year-long course which developed their theological understanding as well as their familiarity with This Is Our Faith and relevant teaching methods. The picture above shows 21 teachers with Archbishop Tartaglia at the end of Mass in St Andrew’s Cathedral Glasgow.
Since Course 1 was launched in 2015, another 40 teachers have since embarked on this journey in session 2015-16 and they will be followed by 120 who will set out on their journey in August 2016. Archbishop Tartaglia paid tribute to all those who have come forward to undertake this course, showing their commitment to Catholic schools and to the faith education of young people.
