Developing Global Citizens through RME and RERC – a FREE seminar for teachers (primary & secondary).
When: Tuesday 8th February 2011 Where: Glasgow Hilton Hotel Cost: FREE
This is one of a series organised by Learning and Teaching Scotland to demonstrate how global citizenship provides a rich and stimulating context for learning within Curriculum for Excellence. The event will include a wide variety of workshops and presentations by practitioners and partner organisations around the country based on their experiences in embedding citizenship themes effectively within the curriculum.
Who should attend?
The event is relevant for practitioners engaged in the planning and implementation of RME/RERC within Curriculum for Excellence and beyond.
Why attend?
Global citizenship allows the exploration of themes relevant to the RERC curriculum, such as rights, responsibilities, fairness, justice and relationships. Awareness of issues related to values and our personal as well as collective responses to these in an increasingly interconnected world are core elements of the education of young people as responsible global citizens.
The conference will aim to exemplify effective approaches in the above areas and provide practitioners with the opportunities to collaborate with colleagues and challenge their thinking when considering how they might plan and deliver across these themes.
