In honour of a European Committee of Catholic Education (CEEC), whose members gathered in Scotland from 7th to 10th October, a number of events were organised by SCES to introduce them to Catholic education in Scotland. They met members of the Scottish Catholic Hierarchy, the Catholic Education Commission, teachers and head teachers, Diocesan R.E. Advisers, Church Reps on Council Education Committees and staff from the University of Glasgow at various points during their visit.

The Scottish Government marked the occasion of their visit, with Deputy First Minister Nicol Sturgeon hosting a reception in the Great Hall of Edinburgh Castle on Friday 8th October.   The reception was also attended by Head Teachers and teachers from a number of Catholic schools across Scotland.

On Saturday 9th October, the group was welcomed to the Unversity of Glasgow by Professor Andrea Nolan.  Thereafter, following a Mass celebrated by Arcbishop Conti in the University Memorial Chapel, the Lord Provost of Glasgow City Council hosted a reception in the City Chambers.
