Pupils participating in the phase 1 pilot of the Pope Francis Faith Award are expected to collect evidence of their learning, their reflection and their action within their Faith Journal. In Primary 7 this is then used by teachers to assess how individual pupils have met the success criteria for gaining the award. School assesments will be verified by SCES.
In November 2014 detailed guidance was provided to teachers on the arrangements for assessment, including arrangements for Moderation and Verification. Towards the end of February, schools are being issued with further advice, setting out a series of steps to be followed in sequence from March to May. This includes a Verification Meeting being held in Glasgow on the afternoon of Tuesday 28th April 2015.
Some documentation, including pupil lists and assessment sheets, has been mailed to schools. The Assessment guidance can be downloaded from the list below. Parish priests will also receive guidance about how to confirm that a pupil deserves to receive the Parish Commendation with the Pope Francis Faith Award.
