In our recent newsletter we announced details of a new leadership initiative to mark the Centenary of the 1918 Education (Scotland) Act.
SCES are working in partnership with Redemptorist Publications to host a conference for Aspiring Head Teachers. Hosted in St. Mary’s Monastery, Kinnoull from the 16th to 18th April 2018, “Jesus the Relational Leader”, will look at the distinctive nature of leadership within a Catholic school, exploring what it means to be a ‘relational leader’ and offer colleagues the opportunity to be guided through Scripture to come to an understanding of their personal Vocation to leadership.
The conference will be the first CLPL event of the “Good Shepherd Leadership Pathway”. This is being developed as a vocational leadership journey that accompanies teachers in their discernment of that personal call to leadership. The pathway will offer experiences and opportunities for personal prayer and reflection, opportunities to understand the vision and values of Catholic Education, knowledge of Church teaching and the chance to become familiar with the Catholic school system internationally. It will offer opportunities to explore the Vocation of the teacher and the personal response to being called to teach, called to catechise, to witness, lead and accompany young people.
The Conference will begin with colleagues gathering for 5.30pm on the 16th April and will conclude at 4pm on the 18th April.
The cost will be £350 . This include conference fees, resources and full board accommodation in single, en- suite rooms in St. Mary’s Monastery.
The Conference is open to Depute Head Teachers of both primary and secondary schools who are considering the move to headship or who would like further Professional Learning on the Vocational aspects of being the leader of a Catholic school.
