Mission Matters Scotland provides various resources of interest to teachers and parents. The following resources (and others) can be found on their website: www.missioscotland.org.uk
[1] Missionary Children School Pack 2012 – based on Missionary Children World Day of Prayer [Friday 5th October 2012]. MISSIO hopes to encourage all primary schools in Scotland to celebrate this special day for children throughout the world.
The pack will be sent directly to schools and is supported by a PowerPoint which is available on the MISSIO Scotland website – a Mass Liturgy is also available on the website – www.missioscotland.org.uk
MISSIO Scotland encourages schools to focus on Missionary Children during the mission month of October and the World Day of Prayer helps mark the start of this special month. MISSIO seeks to remind schools that Missionary Children is founded on the simple statement “children helping children”.
With the help of children in schools – both in prayer and financial support – MISSIO makes a real difference to the lives of 4 million children in 110 countries across the 5 continents every year. The generosity of school pupils in Scotland helps MISSIO to bring hope into the lives of these children.
[2] “Did You Know …..?” – this PowerPoint and Teacher’s Notes outlines the history of the origins of Missionary Children, its purpose and aims. MISSIO Scotland has created this resource to help teachers deliver “This is Our Faith” and to remind schools that Missionary Children is founded on the simple statement “children helping children” – both in prayer and financial support.
