The Bishops’ Conference of Scotland wish Barbara Coupar every success in her new post.

Last week we said good-bye to Michael McGrath as the director of the Scottish Catholic Education service.  The number of cards, messages and tributes that came in to the SCES office are testimony to the high esteem with which the Scottish education community held Michael.  His faith filled commitment and dedication to Catholic education in Scotland has brought us many new initiatives, programmes, awards and a curriculum that is held in high regard across Europe and the rest of the world.  His leadership has raised the profile of our schools and highlighted the positive contribution that they make to Scottish culture and society. I am sure that the fruits of much of his work are yet to be seen!

Barbara said; “As I take on the role of Director of SCES I am looking forward to working alongside all of the members of our school communities to support and help them achieve the vision and mission of their Catholic school.  I will count on the prayers and support of the wider Catholic education community to carry out my duties, and carry on the legacy which Michael has begun.”
