At a Mass for Catholic Education Week in Dundee on the evening of Tuesday 22nd February 2011, Bishop Vincent Logan welcomed teachers, pupils, representatives of Dundee City Council – Councillor Elizabeth Fordyce, Convenor of the Education Committee, Mr Jim Collins, Director of Education and Mr Michael Woods, Head of Secondary Education.

He also welcomed in a special way Mr George Haggarty, recently retired Head Teacher of St John’s High School, with his family and friends.   Also welcomed were Mrs Fiona McLagan, Mr Haggarty’s successor, and Brother Bede, his predecessor, and senior pupils from St John’s.  After the Mass, Mr Haggarty was presented with a Papal Award in honour of his contribution to Catholic Education in Scotland over many years.
