With planning for the Caritas Award scheme in session 2013-14 already begun, many schools will wish to introduce pupils to the award, explaining its purpose etc.  Likewise, schools and parishes will wish to consider what faith witness opportunities can be provided for them locally, as well as what co-ordination and support will be required.

Please note that an Introduction to the Caritas Award PowerPoint resource (and other materials) can be found on the Caritas Award Resources CD which was issued to every school at the start of session 2012-13.

Schools and parishes are reminded of the following key dates in the timeline of the Caritas Award journey:

  • June                      – schools and parishes plan the activities which they will offer and invite new S6 pupils to enrol
  • end August           – SCES meets with school co-ordinators
  • end August           – centres confirm enrolments to SCES
  • early September   – SCES issues Caritas Journals and other resources to centres.

Further communication with schools will take place by mid June.  In the meantime, please contact us if you require any more material or information at this stage.
