The Pope Francis FAITH AWARD is an award of the Bishops’ Conference of Scotland, designed to help children to show “signs of love” in their daily lives and to be active members of their local Church.  It invites young people at the Primary 6 and 7 stages to use the Gifts of the Holy Spirit and to see how they can bear fruit in their homes, schools and parishes. It is directly connected to what young people are learning about the Sacrament of Confirmation.  The award is open to all Catholic Primary schools and parishes, normally involving children across the years of Primary 6 & Primary 7.

There is a small cost of £3.50 for participating in the Faith Award.  (Schools that subscribe with SCES receive a discount and will be invoiced £2.50 per pupil)

This small charge is for the enrolment fee** and includes:

  • access to all of the on line materials for the gathering points,
  • the award of an embossed, personalised certificate and a lapel badge on completion of the award
  • the award of a prayer card for those pupils gaining the Award with Parish Commendation.

In addition each school will be issued with free

  • journal and wrist band for each pupil as they set out on their two year journey,
** Schools should register the total number of P6 pupils that they wish to enrol with SCES.  Names will be confirmed when pupils are in P7.  This small charge per person is to cover the administration and assessment of the award and the certificate and lapel badge given to each pupil on completion of the award. There is no reduction in the enrolment fee if you do not require the journals or wristbands.  Late enrolments will be charged at £4.50 per pupil (£3.50 for SCES subscribers)
  • Please note, Schools should register the total number of P6 pupils that they wish to enrol with SCES. Names will be confirmed when pupils are in P7. A small charge of £2.50 per person + postage and packing* will be invoiced to your school on completion of this enrolment.  This is to cover the administration and assessment of the award and the certificate and lapel badge given to each pupil on completion of the award. There is no reduction in the enrolment fee if you do not require the journals or wristbands. Late enrolments will be charged at £4.50 per pupil (£3.50 for SCES subscribers)

*p+p will depend on the number of pupils enrolling and the courier costs for delivery

  • Please note that the date for completing the award will be 31st March 2023 – this is to help to take some of the pressure off the very busy last term for P7 staff and to ensure that all certificates reach schools in time for award ceremonies.
