Pope John Paul II's speech at St Andrew's College of Education

On the 25th anniversary of the Papal visit to Scotland in June 1982, it is appropriate to reflect upon the prescient words spoken by Pope John Paul II at that time.  This article provides the text of his speech to staff and students of St Andrew’s College of Education.  He speaks of the purposes of education, the importance of schools as communities of faith, the need to re-discover moral values and the significant work of teachers.
