Preparing for the Pope's arrival: praying in the final week

As we enter the final week of our preparations for the arrival of the Holy Father in the UK, we pray particularly the Pope’s intentions in September.

We are hearted by this message recieved from the Holy Father: “I am very much looking forward to my visit to the United Kingdom in a week’s time and I send heartfelt greetings to all the people of Great Britain.”

We pray that we are fully prepared to hear the words that the Holy Father has to give us and that we can use our renewed understanding to build the Kingdom of God.

“All our knowledge, even the most simple, is always a minor miracle.”  Pope Benedict XVI

Each day, united in prayers of preparation with schools, parishes and families across the UK, we look forward to welcoming the Holy Father to our country.

God of truth and love,

we pray for Pope Benedict and look forward with joy to his forthcoming visit to our countries.

May he be a witness to the unity and hope which is your will for all people.

We make our prayer through Christ our Lord,  Amen
