St Ann’s Primary School serves the village of Mossblown and the surrounding areas of Annbank and Tarbolton. The school roll has fallen from 25 at the time of the original inspection to 15 at the time of the follow-through visit. A new headteacher has been in post since October 2007. The school is situated on a shared campus with Annbank Primary School.

This is a follow-through report, based on an inspection carried out in June 2007 and a report published in October 2007. This follow-through report is based on an inspection visit which was carried out in May 2009. It tells about improvements since the original inspection in the quality of education which the school provides. It also comments on how the school is getting on with the main points for action.

Particular strengths of the school

  • Children’s progress in writing.
  • Children’s wider achievements and their improved motivation.
  • Links with the community.
  • The leadership and commitment of the headteacher.
