St Margaret’s RC Primary School is a denominational school which serves Hawick and the surrounding area. The school roll has fallen by a third since the original inspection and is now 21. The acting principal teacher moved to another school and a new acting principal teacher took up post in August 2009.

This is a follow-up report to an inspection report published in November 2008.

Particular strengths of the school

  • Confident and enthusiastic children who participate fully in the life of the school.
  • Involvement of parents in the work of the school and in their children’s learning.
  • Welcoming and caring atmosphere.
  • Leadership of the manager of learning in improving the school.
