The school

St Peter’s RC Primary School is a denominational school. It serves the town of Dalbeattie and surrounding rural areas.

Particular strengths of the school

  • Children’s strong commitment to caring for others.
  • The use of outdoor learning and educational visits to enhance children’s experiences.

What happens next?

There are clear signs of improvement in the school’s provision. The school now performs much better overall. Meeting learning needs and improvement through self‑evaluation are now at a satisfactory level or better. HMIe will make no further visits in connection with the inspection report of September 2009. As part of theirongoing liaison with the education authority, the HMIe District Inspector will continue to monitor the school’s progress.
