The school

St Teresa’s RC Primary School is a denominational school with a non‑denominational nursery class. It serves the north west areas of Dumfries. A headteacher, who had been seconded to the education authority provided management support and worked with staff for one and a half days each week from August to December 2010.

Particular strengths of the school

    • Children’s motivation and eagerness to learn.
    • Improvement in the quality of children’s writing.
    • Staff teamwork.

      What happens next?

There is clear evidence of improvement since the original inspection. With continued support from the education authority, the school has the capacity to make further improvement. In doing so, it needs to continue to improve attainment and aspects of the curriculum. Within one year of the publication of this report HMIe will request a written report from the education authority detailing the progress made. Depending on the content of this report, HMIe may carry out a further follow-through inspection of the school. HMIe will continue to engage with the education authority as it supports the school. Parents will be informed about the progress the school has made.
