How beautiful it would be if each of you, every evening, could say: “Today at school, at home, at work, guided by God, I showed a sign of love towards one of my friends, my parents, an older person!”
(Pope Francis, addressing young people, April 2013)
Enrolment for Primary 6 pupils is now closed for session 2017.
If you would like to enrol Primary 6 pupils to start the award in August 2018, please return to this page in June.
The Pope Francis FAITH AWARD is an award of the Bishops’ Conference of Scotland, designed to help children to show “signs of love” in their daily lives and to be active members of their local Church. It invites young people at the Primary 6 and 7 stages to use the Gifts of the Holy Spirit and to see how they can bear fruit in their homes, schools and parishes. It is directly connected to what young people are learning about the Sacrament of Confirmation. The award is open to all Catholic Primary schools and parishes, normally involving children across the years of Primary 6 & Primary 7.
There is a small cost for participating in the Faith Award. Schools will be invoiced for £2.50* per pupil.
This small charge is for the enrolment fee** and includes:
- access to all of the on line materials for the gathering points,
- the award of an embossed, personalised certificate, lapel badge on completion of the award
- the award of a prayer card for those pupils gaining the Award with Parish Commendation.
In addition each school will be issued with free
- journal and wrist band for each pupil as they set out on their two year journey,
- one set of ‘Gifts of the Holy Spirit’ posters
*This is reduced to £2 per pupil if you do not require your resources to be sent by post. Collection can be arranged from SCES
** Schools should register the total number of P6 pupils that they wish to enrol with SCES. Names will be confirmed when pupils are in P7. This small charge per person is to cover the administration and assessment of the award and the certificate and lapel badge given to each pupil on completion of the award. There is no reduction in the enrolment fee if you do not require the journals or wristbands.
