On Monday 10th October, eight Kilgraston girls, Mrs Lund and school Chaplain embarked on a once in a lifetime journey to the Unison World School (UWS) in India.
Over the last three years, Kilgraston has welcomed a group of UWS students to experience an education in the UK and learn all about the Scottish culture: now it was Kilgraston’s turn to travel nearly 5,000 miles.
On arrival in Dehradun, the girls were welcomed by Mrs. Veena Singh, Principal Unison World School, and the UWS students with marigold garlands and vermilion. The Indian traditional welcome was a beautiful start to their cultural experience. As well as fully embracing the Indian culture, the girls will be presenting and performing traditional Scottish dances to the girls and staff of UWS.
Kilgraston Headmistress, Mrs Dorothy MacGinty said, “ It is a fantastic opportunity for the girls to stay in one of the top schools in India and immerse themselves in the Indian education and culture. It is a wonderful occasion for both the students and staff and I am sure they will bring back a great deal to share with the other girls when they return.”
