The Romero Centre Lecture, Tuesday 28th January 2020

This year St Aloysius’ College Romero Centre welcome Julian Filochowski, OBE, as their keynote speaker with his lecture titled:

Romero and Rutilio – the rocky road to sainthood

Archbishop Oscar Romero and Fr Rutilio Grande SJ are two 20th century Salvadoran martyrs. They are also two heroes of Pope Francis. Romero was killed as he said Mass on March 24th 1980; three years earlier his Jesuit friend had been assassinated on the way to celebrate Mass. Both were killed to silence their preaching. Two outstanding Eucharistic martyrs. Nevertheless, the road to canonisation was frequently blocked.
