With the blessing of His Emminence Cardinal O’Brien, the Catholic Grandparents Association will have its very first National Grandparents Pilgrimage in Scotland in Carfin Grotto on Sunday 21st August.
Grandparents Pilgrimages have been taking place all over the world since 2002 and are held to honour Saint Joachim and St Anne, the parents of Mary and grandparents of Jesus.
Schools are asked to encourage pupils to write prayers for their grandparents (perhaps appropriately decorated). All prayers sent to the Catholic Grandparents Association will be carried to the altar during the Pilgrimage Mass.
Prayers should be sent to Mrs Una Delaney, 18 Rankin St., CARLUKE, Lanarkshire ML8 4AR.
Please see sample prayers below.

Our Lord,
Thank you for my Grandparents. I love them lots. Even though I might not have seen one I still love him so. I am asking you to forgive me if sometimes I did not show love. Please keep them safe in heaven and on earth. Bless them forever to live a long life.
Amen

God bless my Grandparents.
They are all in heaven now.
They are with the angels.
Playing games all day long,
No more school or work,
I will always love them,
Every night when I go to bed,
I will say a prayer for them
Amen
