Going to Scotland’s Rio?

What is Scotland’s Rio?

Scotland’s Rio is an event being run by the Catholic Youth Service of Scotalnd for the young people of Scotland in parallel with the World Youth Day (WYD) being celebrated with Pope Francis in Rio de Janeiro from Tuesday 23 July – Sunday 28 July.

When and where will it be held? :

Scotland’s Rio will take place at Stirling University Campus, Stirling, from Thursday 25 July  – Sunday 28 July 2013.

So, what’s it about?

We hope to give young people from across Scotland the opportunity to experience something of the celebration of the international World Youth Day.

There will be  opportunities for celebrating and learning about our Faith through worship and catechesis and our Youth Festival will offer an opportunity to participate in a range of cultural and fun events which we hope will bring a flavour of Rio to Scotland (though we can’t guarantee that we will have Rio’s weather!). Of course, there will also be time for informal chat and discussion and for meeting together socially.

Who can participate?

Bookings are open to young people from 14-25 years old.

What will it cost?

The cost is £200 and this includes accommodation and all meals. A non refundable deposit of £50 should accompany the Application Form.

What will be the accommodation?

Participants will be staying in the University residences which consist of single rooms in flats.
