The Catholic Education Commission made a good start in efforts to support parents at a seminar held on Saturday 25th August 2012 in the Xavier Centre at Carfin Grotto.

Representatives of Parent Councils from a number of Dioceses heard from Cardinal Keith Patrick O’Brien and Bishop Joseph Devine on the vital role of parents in their children’s education.  James McVittie, Chair of the Catholic Education Commission, and Tony Coultas, Chair of the CEC’s working group on Parental Involvement, spoke to the Commission’s determination to ensure a greater participation by parents in the development of Catholic education. Details on the seminar’s main outcomes, which include parents’ recommendations on what further action is required, available here: 1st National Assembly of Catholic Parent Councils.
