The University of Glasgow are currently recruiting for the ATQRE, and have said that if there are over 15 enquiries they will run it in August. Generalist RE teachers are asked to consider undertaking the course for additional registration in RE which would allow them to be deployed in RE for additional classes, offering more security for their post, flexibility in the timetable and hopefully, a better learning experience for young people.
- The Additional Teaching Qualification in Religious Education for Catholic Schools (ATQRE for Catholic Schools) consists of 2 x 40 Credits (Level 10) courses that are recognised by the General Teaching Council of Scotland (GTCS) and which can be used to apply for Professional Recognition in the subject.
- The courses are taught by staff of the St Andrew’s Foundation for Catholic Teacher Education at the University of Glasgow.
- The ATQRE programme is for qualified teachers who wish to become specialist RE teachers in the Secondary school.
